Title: User Interface Designer/IT Project Support
Position: Full-time
Location: Calgary
Industry: Environmental
Our Client is an Alberta-based, non-profit organization that takes action on climate change through energy efficiency programs and small-scale renewable energy. They transform markets, improve energy efficiency, save money, and safeguard our environment.
Our Client is currently looking for a tech savvy individual who has an eye for design and a passion for creating user interfaces that meet business requirements and are intuitive to the end user. This person would also have experience in project management with strong communication skills. (ie. You like chatting with all kinds of people and enjoy being social).
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Project Leader, this person will design user interfaces, create user stories, assist in quality assurance, and bridge the gap between the technical developers and business users to gather requirements within our Agile development process.
• Work with internal focus groups to develop wireframes and complete spec documentation to determine application flow and design
• Design user interfaces that are professional and aesthetically pleasing that a programmer can implement
• Creation of user stories to develop product backlog and tasks for Sprint cycles
• Performance of quality assurance to ensure our tools are compatible with most browsers and the iPad
• Bridge the gap between developers/business users to gather programming requirements
• Work with internal teams as necessary to advance common goals
• Assist in backing up the Project Leader as required
• Keeping our task/bug-tracking tool (On Time) up-to-date
Job Requirements
• Exceptional communication skills to gather business requirements, then liaise with our IT Leader and development team
• Familiar with Agile development.
• Attention to detail and demonstrated experience in requirements gathering
• Graduate or professional degree in interaction design or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
• Practical and applied experience in the areas of user interface design and project management
• Some background in quality assurance (testing)
• Able to focus on detailed work while thinking strategically
• Exceptional customer service, interpersonal and communication skills – written and spoken
• Strong organizational skills in work planning and time management
• Self-motivated and skilled at managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
